Badminton icon and long-time coach of BC Drop Shot has passed away
Robbie Kneefel passed away on February 7, 2025, due to the effects of ALS. Robbie Kneefel was the badminton icon of the Netherlands for decades, and in the international badminton world, Kneefel was a remarkable figure. After his time as a coach and head coach of the Badminton Academy Zuid Holland (BAZH), Kneefel spent many years as a trainer at BC Drop Shot. Motivating coach Kneefel had a knack for spotting talents and was able to motivate players immensely. Even during the period when ALS struck hard, his motivating coaching was still highly appreciated by many players. He was even a true mentor to several players. Passion and involvement Kneefel beautifully colored the world of badminton. In November 2024, BC Drop Shot honored his dedication to the sport of badminton in general and his dedication to the club in particular with a lifetime achievement award. An appreciation for his unlimited passion and involvement in our beloved sport. Lost, but never forgotten We will continue to feel the influence of Kneefel for a long time and try to continue his wonderful dedication. An icon is lost, but will never be forgotten. Members and board of BC Drop Shot wish the family and friends a lot of strength!
