Competition

Just like sports such as football and tennis, badminton also has a competition in which teams compete against each other. Since the 2018-2019 season, all mixed teams play in the national league (September to February) and there is a regional league for non-mixed teams (from September to February and from the end of February to May). Divisions 4 and higher are the so-called national divisions, and divisions 5 through 9 are the regional divisions. This does not necessarily mean that the regional divisions are limited to the South West region, to which BC Drop Shot belongs; it is also possible that teams on the borders of the region compete with "border" teams from neighboring regions. This is to limit travel distances.

The higher the division level you play in, the greater the chance of long(er) travel times.

In the 2019 - 2020 season, Drop Shot played at the highest level in the Netherlands—the Eredivisie—for the first time in 25 years. Unfortunately, there is a gap after that, but in the divisions below, BC Drop Shot is represented in almost every division with one or more teams.

Important information about playing in competitions
