Trainers change at BC Drop Shot

Badminton club Drop Shot and trainer/coach Paul de Graaf have decided to disconnect their cooperation on August 31. With Sandi Sugiharto the club did find a driven successor starting on September 1st.

Badminton Club Drop Shot and trainer/coach Paul de Graaf have mutually agreed to part ways as of August 31.

Over the past few years, Paul has been closely involved with the club's Eredivisie team, first as an assistant coach with Dicky Palyama and for the last two years as head trainer and coach of the first team. Paul has dedicated himself with great commitment to both Team 1 and the club; under his leadership, the team won last season the national cup tournament (the Dataweb Cup) for the first time and managed to qualify for the play-offs this season, where they were defeated by the eventual national champions BC Duinwijck.

The club is at the beginning of a new phase in which decisions are being made regarding the further development of the first team and the broader club culture. In that context, the club wanted a new approach for trainer and coach of Team 1. Additionally, following the departure of 75% of the Eredivisie team, a new squad must be assembled for the upcoming season. From that team, the club will slowly but surely build a team with more players from its own ranks, supplemented by talented players who are enthusiastic about playing for a wonderful club like BC Drop Shot.

For the upcoming season, and hopefully for a longer period, the club has filled the role of head trainer and coach by appointing a very familiar face to the club: Sandi Sugiharto.
Sandi has successfully raised youth talents to a higher level for several years and is a well-known name in the development of top talents and top athletes.
The board is pleased that Sandi will be focusing on the senior squad and the Eredivisie team in the coming period.

BC Drop Shot thanks Paul for his dedication and commitment and wishes him much success in the future; we will certainly see each other again somewhere along the badminton courts. Additionally, the club welcomes Sandi and we are looking forward to a good collaboration.
