Van Buiten completes BC Drop Shot’s main squad

With the arrival of Kelly van Buiten, BC Drop Shot has completed its main squad for the coming season.

Kelly van Buiten, at just 21 years old, is an upcoming talent and part of the National Selection (S-1). Kelly competes in the women’s and mixed doubles.

Van Buiten: "I’m excited to play for BC Drop Shot next season. I’m also looking forward to working with the coaches. I also play in the German league, but of course, I will dedicate myself to BC Drop Shot as much and as well as possible."

BC Drop Shot is pleased with Kelly’s arrival. Coach Dicky Palyama: "She’s really starting to grow in the doubles and is also gaining more international experience. Her determination continues to impress me. With her arrival, the strength within the team is well balanced and we really don’t have any weak spots. Kelly also fits into our philosophy of building a team that is a mix of young, relatively inexperienced players and more experienced players."

Chairman Robert Hoogland adds: "At the end of last season, we decided to use as many Dutch players as possible. Although it hasn’t been 100 percent successful, all premier league clubs are fishing in the same (very small) pool of talented, premier-league-worthy players. We are satisfied with the steps we have taken.

We hope to retain the even younger players so that we can steadily grow into a stable premier league club. In addition to contracts, we are always looking for ways to ‘connect’ team 1 players and coaches to the club. After all, we are an association, and uniting is our main goal."

BC Drop Shot, founded in 1947, offers badminton fun at all levels, from recreational players to the premier league. In recent years, the youth in particular have grown and developed tremendously. BC Drop Shot is known for its many events. The most famous are the successful Winter and Summer Tournaments and the wonderful Grand Prix | Master Finals Tournament at the end of May.
